Understand the basic parameters of LED lighting products

When we choose or purchase lamps, we often pay attention to the relevant parameters of the lamps, such as: brightness, life, color temperature, etc., as a standard to distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of the lamps. But do you know enough about the parameters of the lamps? Here is an explanation of the common parameters for the majority of buyers, so that everyone can choose their favorite LED lighting fixtures when buying.

1. Brightness
The brightness of the LED light is the parameter that users care about most, and the brightness can be explained from two aspects.
Luminance L: The luminous flux per unit solid angle per unit area of the luminous body in a specific direction. Unit: Nit (cd/㎡).
Flux φ: The total amount of light emitted by the luminous body per second. Unit: Lumens (Lm), which means how much the luminous body emits light. The more luminous the light, the greater the number of lumens.

2. Lifespan
The life of lamps is usually related to quality, and the difference in quality is the key to the length of life. Life is determined by light decay. LED products usually do not fail suddenly, but the light output will decrease over time. The usual practice is to measure the lifetime from a 30% reduction in output (that is, 70% of the remaining light output). This is commonly referred to as "L70 life" and is measured in hours.

3. Wavelength
LEDs of the same wavelength have the same color. The spectral wavelength distribution of several commonly used ultra-bright LED lights is 460~636nm, and the wavelengths appear from short to long as blue, green, yellow-green, yellow, yellow-orange, and red. Typical peaks of common LEDs of several colors The wavelengths are: blue-470nm, blue-green-505nm, green-525nm, yellow-590nm, orange-615nm, red-625nm.

4. Color temperature
The color temperature of a light source is defined as the Kelvin temperature of a black body radiator that emits light similar to this light source. Color temperature is the unit of measurement to identify the color of light, that is, the K value. Yellow is "below 3300K", white is "5300K and above", and intermediate colors are "3300K-5300K". Customers can choose the appropriate color temperature of the light source according to their own preferences and the needs of the environment.

Of course, the parameters of LED lights are more than these. For example, strobe, heat dissipation, light efficiency, etc. are all relevant parameters for judging the quality of LED lights.
